ABOUT the ARTIST

Colin W. Miller is a multidisciplinary artist, illustrator, and designer based in Brooklyn, New York. Originally from the suburbs of Philadelphia, he grew up surrounded by the Appalachian hills and forests—an environment that fostered a lasting connection to the landscapes of the Eastern United States and continues to shape his visual language.

Working primarily in watercolor, ink, and acrylic, Miller creates bold, expressive compositions that explore themes of nature, the sublime, impermanence, and self-realization. His work examines the emotional weight of spaces and the tension between presence and absence, drawing from personal narrative and observed environments to reflect on memory, identity, and the ephemeral nature of experience.

Alongside his studio practice, Miller has experience working  as a florist and event designer, creating temporary, immersive environments for celebrations and gatherings with an emphasis on florals. His hands-on experience with material, scale, and ephemerality directly informs his artwork, reinforcing an interest in beauty as something both intentional and impermanent.

Miller holds a Bachelor's of Fine Arts degree (BFA) with a concentration in Drawing and Painting from The Pennsylvania State University. His work has been exhibited in both solo and group exhibitions, including Lift Off: A Showcase of Local Artists (Brooklyn), One Artist Show (Saturn Road NYC, 2025), Mind Your Mind: Mental Health, Identity, and Activism (Seton Hall University, 2021), QWEERTY (Hub Robeson Gallery, 2019), Opulence (Patterson Gallery, 2019), and Get Bodied (Zoller Gallery, 2017).
